Join us on an adventure.
Are you ready to escape to an isolated and pristine coastline with warm tropical waters? Are you ready to escape from the crowded tour boats, and the daily hustle and bustle of life?
Join us on an adventure, and discover a unique and magical kayaking experience to a remote area of the Big Island that only our company can offer.
We begin our day at Honaunau Beach Park with an informative safety briefing to ensure your safety. We then head due north approximately two and a half miles following the rugged coastline. This stretch of coastline is very isolated. Once we begin our trip and leave the bay of Honaunau, there are no points of exit due to the rugged nature of the coastline. If the water is calm, we will explore the mysterious sea caves lining the coast.
That is what makes our trip so very special — it is just our small group surrounded by the beauty of Mother Nature.
The only sounds you hear will be the calls of the seabirds and the crashing of waves on the coast. If we are lucky, we may be visited by a pod of dolphins that regularly frequent the area.
At the half-way point, we take a refreshment break consisting of local tropical fruits and beverages while your guide shares stories about the rich history and geology of the area before returning to Honaunau Beach.
After an enchanting paddle, you will enjoy a scrumptious buffet lunch under the palm trees at the City of Refuge, Pu’uhonua O Hōnaunau.
Once we are well rested, you will be able to tour the National Park at your own pace while being swept into the ancient ways of old Hawaii.
The State Park, nicknamed “Two Steps,” is also known for some of the most incredible snorkeling in the Hawaiian Islands, so bring your snorkel gear for after the trip.
PLEASE NOTE: We welcome first time paddlers, but if you tire easily, are prone to severe sea sickness, or feel uncomfortable in the ocean, this is NOT the trip for you. This is not a leisurely paddle, it is an adventure! If you enjoy a challenge, this trip was made for you!
* Due to the weight capacity of our surf-skis, participants may not exceed 210lbs. Participants must be 15 years or older.
Owner/Operator ~ Adrienne Reynolds
Adrienne first moved to Hawaii at the age of 19 in 1985. Over the years she worked as a PADI scuba instructor and first mate on vessels in Maui.
Later, following tales of adventure, she worked as a commercial crabber in Alaska where she met her late husband and eventually the duo sailed around the world. Continuing her search for adventure, Adrienne became a lead whitewater river guide on the famous Taos Box, consisting of class 3–5 rapids.
Missing the ocean, she returned to Hawaii and began racing outrigger canoes and relished in solo one-man outrigger canoe long distance paddles. She has also been an avid surfer for over twenty years.
Boats: Our boats are a dynamic, streamlined surf-ski made of an epoxy/Kevlar mold with a high tech adjustable rutter system for ease of steering.
Paddles: Classic Hawaiian wooden outrigger canoe paddles or custom-designed kayak paddles with up to a 60 degree angle for control and an ease of paddling.
Life Jackets: Category three Coast Guard approved with a mesh backing to keep you cool in the warm Hawaiian weather.
Water Booties: Protect your feet from the rocks and reef with water booties made by NRS.
